Is Pain Ruining Your Game?

Of all the things you might take for granted, your feet are probably near the top of the list. It’s only when foot pain or discomfort mean you have to stop doing something you love, that you realise how much you rely on them!

If a problem with your feet is disrupting your training schedule or preventing you from taking part in your sport of choice – and the social life that comes with it – we can help. If you are finding it too painful to walk, run or stand for a full round of golf or tennis match – we can help. If issues with balance or movement are stopping you from playing at the top of your game – we can help.

We have treated a spectrum of problems in sports people of all ages. You might be suffering from one (or more) of the following:

  • Aching or burning in the feet
  • Heel and Achilles pain
  • Leg and joint pains, even back pain
  • Ankle discomfort or swelling
  • Corns, callouses and bunions
  • Collapsed arches
  • Damaged or infected toenails
  • Awkward or inefficient gait or posture

Treatment

The initial stage of treatment is diagnosis, which takes place during a 45-minute consultation at our clinic. This will involve a thorough examination, a detailed analysis of your medical history and the problems to date. We will also carry out gait analysis and biomechanics assessment to establish whether we can correct postural problems, support and re-alignment of the feet to relieve pain, discomfort and tiredness.

When we have identified your problems we’ll explain them to you in a clear ‘no jargon’ way and outline how they can be resolved. From there we will go on to create a bespoke treatment plan for your specific problems. This might typically include the use of insoles to support and correct the alignment and function of the foot; massage, stretching and strengthening exercises; nail restructuring or chiropody.

If the problem is something that we can’t treat or resolve alone, we’ll make recommendations for other local health care professionals who could work alongside us (or instead of us) to return your feet to good health and rapidly improve your abilities on the field.
